Supervision
I offer supervision to those working face to face, online and telephone. Open for enquires now from counsellors on all stages of their counselling journey whether fully qualified or in training.
I practise the Seven-Eyed Supervision model, developed by Peter Hawkins and Robin Shohet in 1985, combining the IDM (integrative development model (Stoltenberg and McNeil). I aim to provide a safe and supportive space for practitioners to review both theirs and their clients' growth, challenges and development. Supervision is a dynamic collaborative and positively challenging process, ensuring the best possible outcomes clients and good counselling practise, as such, my role as a supervisor is not to enter the process to specifically influence or judge a practitioner. I have always loved the analogy that the best way to teach a person to swim is to be in the water with them and not shout instructions from the side of the pool and I attempt to adopt this philosophy across supervision sessions, being in the practitioners frame of reference and exploring and evaluating their practice with them together assuring quality service provision, ethical practise and sharing knowledge and experience as well as monitoring the counsellor is undertaking continual professional development and making suggestions where appropriate.
I'm a qualified Person-Centred Therapist with additional qualifications in CBT allowing me to work holistically and integratively with clients and supervisees. I am also a qualified childrens and young peoples counsellor with a number of years of experience working with children and young people in an educational setting as well as in a counselling room, online, over the telephone and in text only.
I began my private practice during lockdown and now have a number of clients who I work with both face to face and online, I also work for a local counselling agency, and employed by a mental health organisation as a children and young peoples counsellor. I have a number of years' experience supporting people with various mental health issues, such as: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, bereavement, complex PTSD, Self-harm, OCD and alcohol and drug misuse.
